Most participants reported increased availabilty in the market due to trucking disruptions along with lighter than expected export movement. Some participants noted pushback and sold material as low as $250/ST for mixed species and $315/ST for pure beef, Missouri River FOB. Illinois Renderer also saw a decline in the market with a low of $230/ST confrmed.
As of September 15th, the pet food grade poultry-by-product market (PFG PBM) FOB Mid-South is averaging $645/ST, a month-on-month decrease of 4.1 percent or $24.50/ST from August. Even with this decline month-on-month, the average remains 11.5 percent over the prior year due to continued labor and trucking shortages, expanded exports, and increased domestic demand from pet food consumers.
