RIN Prices Start Week Under Pressure

 

RIN Prices Tumble on Expected Lower Renewables Blending

Biodiesel RINs ended last week at their lowest level since March 2021, while ethanol RINs settled at levels not seen since February.  Biodiesel RINs closed the week at $1.29 for the 2021 RIN, a nine percent drop from last week but 72 percent above values from a year ago.  The 2021 ethanol RIN settled at $0.95, down 18 percent from last week but 101 percent higher than prices at this time last year. 

RIN prices continued to move lower on Monday with biodiesel and ethanol RINs falling 2.75 cents and 2.5 cents respectively, to start the week. The market was told to expect the release of the RVO mandates last Friday.  That has yet to happen and may not happen for many months.  If the rumors are confirmed, prices are expected to slide further.
