Biodiesel Exports Reach Yearly All-Time Four Months Early

 

Biodiesel Export Volume Exceeds Import Volume for Fifth Consecutive Month   

The US imported 11.3 million gallons of biodiesel during August while exporting 23.3 million gallons. Exports exceeded imports for a fifth consecutive month. Export volume has outpaced import volume for the year. August exports were 12 percent above July and 9.3 percent over August 2020.  Import volume declined 15 percent from July but was equal to August 2020, according to the US Census Bureau. Year to date biodiesel imports to lag the 2020 import pace by 15 percent, while year to date export volume is 26 percent over the 2020 pace through August. 

The United States averaged 17 million gallons of imports per month during 2020 while exporting 12 million gallons.  The average through August 2021 is 14 million gallons for imports versus 18 million gallons for exports. August Biodiesel imports arrived primarily from Canada…
