Organic Soybean Prices Spill Over Into Organic Chicken Prices

 

Organic soybean prices remain volatile. The value changes depending on location in the mid-West and who (the farmer or merchant) Fastmarkets/The Jacobsen is speaking to. New crop organic soybean prices mostly average near $32/33, but we have heard prices trading as low as $31 per bushel and as high as $34 per bushel. Imports of organic soybeans into the United States could pick up in the coming marketing year. Recall, According to the U.S. Customs Department, Ghana delivered its first batch of organic soybeans on record to the United States in Q3. Organic soybeans are trading near the $36-$38 range on the East Coast near Pennsylvania. The question for consumers is whether elevated levels of organic soybean prices will spill over into organic animal protein prices?
