Some Indian Organic Certifiers Find Themselves in EU Crosshairs

The issues in India continue to undermine the ability of the country to send organic products to the EU. This week, the European Commission could block five certifying agencies from certifying organic product exports from India.  The Indian shippers, cleared by them, did not meet the norms for ethylene oxide presence in their consignments, which mainly included til/gingelly. There are still 28 other domestic and international agencies that may certify organic product exports from the country. CU Inspections India Pvt. Ltd., Ecocert India Pvt Ltd, Indian Organic Certification Agency (Indocert), Lacon Quality Certifications Pvt Ltd – all, and OneCert International Private Limited are the five agencies under scrutiny.
