Biodiesel Margins saw some Improvement Last Week

 

Biodiesel and Ethanol RINs Gained Ground Last Week

Biodiesel and ethanol RIN prices climbed higher last week.  The 2021 biodiesel RIN moved from $1.48 to $1.53, a three percent gain, while the 2021 ethanol RIN extended the prior week’s gain, increasing five percent to $1.30 per RIN.    Biodiesel RINs are 93 percent over the $0.79 value they were trading this time last year.  Ethanol RINs are 158 percent above year ago values of $0.51 per RIN.

The price spread between biodiesel and ethanol RINs held mostly steady over the prior past week at roughly 30 cents.  The spread had widened to 35 cents three weeks ago on news the EPA and White House might reduce renewable volume obligations.  Since then, the spread has narrowed back to levels seen in August.
