Biodiesel Imports Exceed Exports for First Time in 6-Months

 

Biodiesel Imports and Exports Slow From Second Quarter  

The US imported 17.5 million gallons of biodiesel during September while exporting 12.4 million gallons. Imports exceeded Exports for the first time in six months. Export volume has outpaced import volume for the year by about 25 million gallons. September exports were 47 percent below August and 32 percent under September 2020.  Import volume increased 55 percent from August and was 12.5 percent above September 2020, according to the US Census Bureau. Year to date, biodiesel imports to lag the 2020 import pace by 12 percent while year to date export volume is 18 percent over the 2020 pace through September. 

The United States averaged 17 million gallons of imports per month during 2020 while exporting 12 million gallons.  Through September, the US is averaging 14 million gallons of imports versus 17 million gallons of exports. September…
