Global Biofuel Demand to Climb 28% by 2026: IEA

World biofuel demand is expected to return to pre-Covid 19 levels this year and increase by 41 billion liters (10.8 billion gallons), or 28 percent, to 186 billion liters (49.1 billion gallons) in the next five years, the Paris-based International Energy Agency (IEA) said in its Renewables 2021 report. Government policies will be responsible for driving much of the increase in consumption, although transportation fuel demand and costs will influence which fuels see the quickest growth. These factors are anticipated to push biofuel production in Asia above output in Europe between 2021 and 2026.
