Exports Continue Cyclical Slide
The US imported 17.8 million gallons of biodiesel during October while exporting nine million gallons. Imports exceeded Exports for a second consecutive month but only the second time in the past seven months. Exports tend to decline during the winter months in the northern hemisphere.
Export volume has outpaced import volume for the year by approximately 17.1 million gallons. October exports were 27.5 percent below September but 90 percent above October 2020. Import volume increased two percent from September but were six percent below October 2020 according to US Census Bureau data. Year to date, biodiesel imports to lag the 2020 import pace by 11 percent while export volume is 20 percent higher.
