Edible Oil Prices Advance before Christmas Holiday  

Global vegetable oil prices ended higher for a third straight session on Thursday thanks to position adjustment ahead of the U.S. Christmas holiday. Expectations for lower production from Malaysia, gains in crude oil prices, and light fund oil/meal spreading supported the uptick in palm and soybean oil prices. The U.S. markets will be closed on December 24 in observance of the holiday.

In Chicago, benchmark soybean oil futures shrugged off early losses and ended more than one percent higher (January 2022 contract +61 basis points per pound). Contracts at the back end of the forward curve rose about 0.6 percent to one percent (October 2022 contract +34…
