LCFS Q4 Credit Volume 49% Over Q4 2020

LCFS credit volume of 479,807 was 42 percent below last week but 154 percent above last year’s volume for the same period. Volume for the week ending December 26, 2021, was five percent above the weekly 2021 average. Fourth quarter volume is 79 percent over third quarter volume and 49 percent above Q4 of 2020. There were 34 transactions during the week, down from 88 the week before. The weighted average price paid per credit declined $4.60 to $164.79. Of the 34 transactions posted, Type 1 transfers totaled 140,669 credits while Type 2 transfers accounted for 339,138 credits. Type 1 transfers were 38 percent of the transactions and 29 percent of the volume, according to the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Type 1 transactions are executed within 10 days of an agreement and would be considered spot market trades. Type 2 transactions are executed beyond 10 days of a transfer agreement and do not provide a date…
