European Organic Soybean Prices Continue to Rise

European organic trading activity seems to be picking up finally after the holidays. Organic corn is offered at €340 FOB Constanta and €420-425 CPT Denmark. Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets/The Jacobsen that organic corn from Ukrain is rumored to be less expensive, but there are few offers. The elevated price of conventional corn in Ukrain has likely drawn organic producers to sell into the conventional market. Organic barley has seen bids ease slightly, slipping to approximately €300 per metric ton.

Organic wheat is hard to find both in the U.S. and Europe. Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets/The Jacobsen that U.S. feed mills are adding organic corn to the rations to replace wheat. This situation has yet to be the case across the pond. Organic soybean meal prices remain elevated in Europe. Prices are trading between €1,220 and €1,270 per metric ton for Chinese organic soybean meal and closer to €1,320-1,350 for Indian organic soybean meal. European merchandisers tell…
