EIA: Ethanol Production Declines, while Inventories Rise  

U.S. ethanol production dropped during the week ending January 21, as inventories rose, data released by the EIA showed. Output was down 18,000 barrels per day, or 1.7 percent to a total of 1.035 million b/d. Ethanol production in the key Midwest region fell by 15,000 b/d, or 1.5 percent, to 979,000 b/d. During the week, Gulf ethanol output was down 7,000 b/d, or 1/4 percent to 21,000 b/d.

For a fourth straight week, domestic ethanol stocks rose. Invetories increased 884,000 barrels, or 3.7 percent during the week ending January 21 to a total of 23.592 million barrels, or their highest level since May 2020.
