EIA: Ethanol Output Falls below 1 Million b/d 

Figures released this week by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed U.S. ethanol production fell below one million barrels per day last week for the first time since October 2021. Total output declined 47,000 b/d, or 4.5 percent, to 994,000 b/d during the week ending February 4. Most of the weekly drop occurred in the key Midwest region, where ethanol production was down 42,000 b/d, or 4.3 percent, on the week to 939,000 b/d.

U.S. ethanol stocks also decreased during the week. Stockpiles retreated by slightly more than one million barrels to 24.799 million barrels. Stocks were down in the Midwest by 378,000 barrels, or 3.6 percent, to a total of 10.129 million barrels. Ethanol inventories on the East Coast fell 278,000 barrels, or 6.4 percent, to 4.068 million barrels.
