Organic Soybean Meal Prices Should Remain Elevated on the East Coast

Organic soybean meal prices remain buoyed. Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets/The Jacobsen that prices are offered at $1,650 on the East Coast and $1,500 on the West Coast. The difference in prices is the availability of Chinese organic soybean meal that makes its way to the West Coast. We have heard that there are expectations that organic soybean meal will continue to make its way from China to the United States. Organic soybean meal is offered as high at $1,735 in some mid-West areas for Q2 and Q3. We also believe that additional organic soybean meal will be coming to the East Coast in March via Turkey. 

The current price of $1,500 per short-ton allows Chinese exporters to generate profits despite the duty on Chinese-origin meals. Speaking of duty, According to the Department of Commerce, there will be a final decision on the Indian Duty on March 18, 2022.
