A Further Divergence in Prices is Coming

The divergence in prices between the coast and the mid-West remains wide, and it will likely become even more expansive. Organic corn on the East Coast is trading near the $450-$460 per short-ton level, about $2.60-$2.70 per bushel higher than in the mid-West. Organic corn prices on the West Coast are even higher, trading near $480 per short ton. The difference in prices reflects transportation costs which are likely to climb even higher come new crop.
