January Biodiesel Exports Fall 50% From December

U.S. January Biodiesel imports of 18.3 million gallons were the highest recorded for any January dating back to 2015. January 2022 imports were 88 percent above January 2021 imports but 39 percent below December.  Imports typically fall during the first quarter

U.S. January biodiesel imports of 18.3 million gallons were the highest recorded for any January dating back to 2015.  January 2022 imports were 88 percent over January 2021, but 39 percent below December.

Imports generally decline during the first quarter of a new year.  2022 imports are off to a strong start and at 18.3 million gallons they are 43 percent above the five-year January import average of 12.8 million gallons. The EPA’s proposed blending mandate raises the renewable volume obligation for biomass-based diesel from 2.43 billion gallons to 2.76 billion.

Germany provided 45 percent of the imports received…
