Weekly Average Bloodmeal Higher; Wider Ranges Persist

For week ending March 18th, bloodmeal had the largest week-on-week increase when compared to other protein items, with porcine higher by 4.4 percent or $50/ST and ruminant up 11.5 percent or $115/ST. Active demand combined with reported of limited availability pushed pricing higher for the week.  Both ruminant and porcine MBM were higher with a 2.8 and 1.9 percent increase, respectively. Some pushback was reported at values above the range, leaving most pricing at a generally flat call when compared to prior week’s price movement.

Poultry-by-product items continued to trade in wide ranges, with chicken meal showing a heightened $150/ST spread at midweek. Feathermeal Mid-South showed a flat call for the majority of the month, however, other regions witnessed increased values, closing the regional spreads, reportedly due to heightened soybean meal values. Poultry-by-product pet food grade Mid-South was higher for the week on an $850/ST high.
