Organic Soybean Meal Prices Remain Soft

 

The organic soybean meal market in the U.S. remains soft. Exporters tell Fastmarkes that containers are lined up at the coast, waiting for buyers. While we do not believe this is the case, we hear from consumers that most are covered and looking for meals to purchase in H2 2023. We have heard organic soybean meal prices on the East Coast with African-origin offered below $900 per short ton, in some cases far below. We have the impression there is a minor liquidation that is occuring We have also heard from exporters that merchandisers in the United States are unwilling to book any organic soybean meal and are full.

Bills of lading viewed by Fastmarkets for April organic soybean meal imports showed tiny volumes of organic soybean meal delivered to the United States in April. We have heard from sources that trade was made in April, and imports will likely pick up in May. The small volumes of organic soybean meal were exported…
