Hog Slaughter Forecast Above 2022 For May

For the week ending May 20th, 2023, hog slaughter is forecast at 2.350 million head, a 2.2 percent decrease from 2022 and a 1.1 percent drop from the prior week. According to the USDA Actual Slaughter Under Federal Inspection for April 29th, average live weights were at 291 pounds.
