Values for Tuesday were mixed with most items remaining rangebound. Limited offering levels supported bloodmeal values. However, fluctuations continue to be witnessed due to relative price pressure from other feed items. Poultry-by and chicken meal were mixed with pressure on some areas with a have-have-not tone. Some are continued to show non-existent offerings due to extremely brisk demand, while others are communicating more inventory than previous sessions.
Proposition 12 in California was upheld by the Supreme Court this past week. The new initiative lays out minimum housing requirements for egg-laying hens, calves raised for veal, and breeding pigs. For breeding pigs, the law requires at least 24 square feet of space per breeding pig in order for their pork or pork from their offspring to be sold in California.
