Weekly LCFS Credit Volume Hits 25-Week Low
Weekly LCFS credit volume hit a 25-week low last week, but the average price paid per credit held steady. Credit transactions during the week ending May 21, 2023, of 218,597 were 46 percent below the 407,945 credits traded the week prior, but on par with last year’s weekly volume of 210,867. Additionally, trading was 71 percent below the prior four-week average of 757,798.
The average price paid per credit increased $0.14 to $80.28, a 16-week high, while the average value of a spot market trade declined for the first time in five weeks, falling $0.58 to $83.23. The average spot market price is $2.95 above the average price for all trades. This is significant, as it is the sixth consecutive week the average weekly spot price closed above the average contracted price.
