Animal Fats – International 25.5.23

Prices were firm in the Australia and New Zealand market this week on continued strong demand from the renewable sector for export material. Domestic prices have been buoyed by the strong export demand, but there should be a better idea on market direction next week after June tenders have been settled. National cattle slaughter was again strong last week in Australia with the MLA estimating 119,551 for the week ending 19 May.

Trading in the UK and EU markets was lower for animal fats on well bought positions and weakness in the biofuel and veg oils markets. Imported volume of both biodiesel and UCO continue to weigh on the biofuels market, which is in turn weighing on feedstock demand.
