Biodiesel Import Duties from Argentina & Indonesia to Continue

Unanimous USITC Vote Determines Antidumping and Countervailing Duties Remain Through 2028

The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) voted unanimously to leave the existing antidumping and countervailing duty measures imposed against Argentina and Indonesia in place.  The USITC determined during its five-year (“sunset”) review, removing the import barriers would likely lead to material economic harm to U.S. biofuel producers through unfair trade practices.

Back in 2017, The Commerce Department concluded that foreign biodiesel producers in Argentina and Indonesia benefited from subsidies that injured domestic US biodiesel producers, leading to the imposition of antidumping and countervailing duties. Imports of biodiesel from Argentina totaled more than 445 million gallons in 2016 and accounted for 23.5 percent of the RFS D4 renewable volume obligation.
