Midwest Organic Corn Markets Bifurcated

Midwest Organic Corn Markets Bifurcated

The organic grain market in the Midwest remains bifurcated. Organic corn prices remain elevated, with little activity below $10 per bushel. Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets there is some organic corn in the Dakotas, and Minnesota is trading in some small spot volumes at these levels, but for any size in southern or eastern Midwest, the price is above $10/bu.

There does not appear to be much carry for new-crop organic corn compared to old-crop. Merchandisers tell Fastmarkets that the activity in the deferred new crop is non-existent. Prices in the interior will not benefit from organic corn moving east to west. Consumers in those regions absorb nearly all the cracked corn delivered to the West Coast.
