Biodiesel Imports Continue to Arrive at Twice the 2022 Pace
U.S. biodiesel exports reached a new all-time monthly high in April, while imports continued to arrive at twice last year’s pace. Four months into 2023, import activity is 109 percent above the 2022 pace while exports are 52 percent higher.
April imports of 40.6 million gallons were eight percent below the 44.2 million gallons imported in March but 83 percent over April 2022 volume of 22.2 million gallons. Additionally, April imports were 103 percent above the five-year April import average of 20 million gallons.
Imports arrived from six countries during April, down from 10 in March. Germany, Canada, Spain, and South Korea supplied 91 percent of the volume, with additional amounts arriving from Italy and Belgium.
