Poultry-by Pet Grade and Chicken Meal Values Largest Weekly Change

No pricing adjustments were witnessed at the tail end of the week as an ebb and flow on the CBOT market continues amidst weather fluctuations.

Weekly values on animal proteins were unsettled. Ruminant and porcine items were highly irregular with lighter than expected slaughter, lower soybean meal, and tight supplies keeping several at a standstill. Poultry-by-product pet grade saw the largest adjustments with significant declines as offerings flooded the market. Several pet food processing facilities were indicated as shuttered or slowed for the near term creating the surplus on the market as well as higher optionality for buyers. A drop of 13.2 or $122.50/st was noted on the weekly average from last week. From the first week in June, this is down 18.8 percent or $185/st.
