Soybean Oil Price Hike, Reaching Six-Month High

The crush margin in Central Illinois experienced an impressive leap during the week of June 30th, jumping by 56.6 percent compared to the week prior. When compared to the corresponding week of 2022, this value represents a 3.2 percent year-over-year growth. Last week, soy meal prices climbed to $427.87 per bushel, a 2 percent increase on the previous week, while soybean prices took a dip of 1.7 percent from $15.01 to $14.75/lb. Soybean oil, however, witnessed a surge of 9.2 percent, rising from $61.42 to $67.09/lb. The varied values on soy led to a $1.12 increase in the margin from $1.99 to $3.11. In addition to this, the current margin stands $0.96 above the 6-week average of $2.16, an indicator of the elevated values at the end of June.
