Prices Trend Lower as LCFS Credit Volume Pushes to 9-Week High

 

LCFS Credit Transaction Value at Four-Year Low

LCFS credit volume reached a nine-week high last week while the average credit price continued to move lower for a third consecutive week. Transactions during the week ending July 2, 2023, of 924,671 were 105 percent above the 451,101 credits traded the week prior and 60 percent over the volume transacted a year ago. Additionally, trading was 113 percent above the prior four-week average of 434,249.

The average price paid per credit declined $4.68 to $76.31, a nine-week low, while the average value of a spot market trade fell $3.40 to $76.53, an 11-week low. The average spot market price is $0.22 above the average price for all trades. Spot prices have been trending over contracted trades in 11 of the past 12 weeks.
