Record High Yellow Grease, Corn Oil Usage as Biofuel Feedstock

Technical tallow traded up a penny today to 76 cts/lb Chicago. Strong renewable demand has helped to boost the price for the low acid, low metal fat despite the downturn in the soybean oil market today.

Outside of the technical tallow market, trading was very quiet to start the week and close out the month of July. The BOHO (bean oil – heating oil) moved in favor of renewable fuel producers today with the September SBO contract falling 2.53 cts/lb to 65.58 cts/lb, the most liquid contract, December, fell by 2.41 cts/lb to settle under 60 cts/lb at 59.99. Meanwhile, the ULSD (HO) September contract was up by 3.57 cts/gal, which moves the spread 21.645 cts/gal today.
