European Organic Grain Producers Endure a Hot, Dry Summer

European organic grain production is expected to fall in 2023, as widespread reports of hot, dry weather carve out yield potential. Agricensus reports that the EU Commission cut forecasts for corn yields – as well as soft wheat and barley – in the latest monthly update published last week.

The Commission updated its outlook on EU corn production, reducing its forecast by 712,000 mt to 63.2 million mt from last month’s 63.9 million mt.  Estimated corn production for Romania was cut by 547,000 mt, while in Poland it was cut by 201,000 and in Germany it was cut by 155,000 mt.
