Flat Protein Market to Close out Week

The week closed on a quiet note with no changes reported. That has been the tone of the market for much of the week – dead steady. Sources have indicated that tight supplies are keeping prices well supported and that buyers have been very willing to pay steady prices.

For the week, ruminant MBM FOB Mo. River was flat with the prior week’s average and hasn’t changed from the $425 mark in over a month. Porcine MBM was slightly lower, down 0.7 percent from last week’s average. The bi moves this week were in the bloodmeal markets, both lower by more than 3 percent. Pet grade poultry by product meal (PFG PBM) was up by 1.3 percent, the biggest gainer week-on-week. Tight supplies tied to production interruptions helped to boost PFG PBM prices this week.
