Light volume along with steady pricing was reported for the start of the week, leaving values flat for Monday. 

For the week ending September 2nd, cattle slaughter is forecasted at 635,000 head, a 1.2 percent decrease from 2022 but a 1.6 percent rise from last week. Over the next six weeks, cattle slaughter is expected to average 628,330 head per week, down four percent and 0.5 percent from 2022 and 2021, respectively.

According to the USDA Actual Slaughter Under Federal Inspection for August 12th, average live weights were at 1,353 pounds, two pounds higher than the start of July but three pounds below the respective period for 2022.
