Quiet Tone for Midweek Leaves Values Mostly Flat

Limited trade was reported for midweek, with most indicating trade within the ranges or only limited volume. Some wider ranges on chicken meal, ruminant bloodmeal were noted due to varying offering levels.

Bloodmeal variants have been weaker at the end of quarter three on accounts of diminished demand, paired with varied offering levels. Though most have reported tight inventory levels, diminished interest levels have weighed on market sentiment.

Porcine bloodmeal was steady to weaker for the week on reports of light demand, even with thin offerings levels indicated. Contacts witnessed smaller ranges in the near term as well as tighter regional spreads due to interest levels. This past week, lows of $850, $900, and $950/st were reported on IA/MO/NE, Mid-Atlantic, and Indiana, separately. Year-on-year declines of $544/st were witnessed for the week ending September 8th from the relative week in 2022. (Fig. 1)
