Animal Fats – International 21.9.23

Trading out of the Australian and New Zealand markets was sideways this week with no changes reported. Sources indicated that there may be more demand issues forthcoming from the Asian renewables market, but thus far there has been no impact on price. The appetite for tallow out of the North American market remains strong and with new demand expected in the fourth quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of 2024, sellers have a lot of options, especially with the North American West Coast coming more into play. Cattle slaughter remains high in Australia with the MLA estimating national slaughter last week at 126,585 head, just off of the multi-year high seen two weeks ago at 127,337 head.
