Monday trade was minimal and the trades reported were within the current range.
For the week ending September 30th, cattle slaughter is forecast at 625,000 head, a 6.3 percent decrease from 2022 but a steady with last week. Over the next six weeks, cattle slaughter is projected to average 648,330 head per week, a 2.9 and 0.8 percent drop from 2022 and 2021, respectively.
According to the USDA Actual Slaughter Under Federal Inspection for September 9th, average live weights are currently at 1,362 pounds.
Based on the Estimated Weekly Meat Production from the USDA cattle slaughter for week ending September 23rd was at 625,000 head, a 6.9 percent or 46,000 head reduction from the respective week in 2022. Year-to-date cattle slaughter is currently at 23.627 million head, 4.3 percent lower than 2022 for the similar time which was at 24.669 million head.
