Robust Demand Keeps Porcine Bloodmeal Rally Going

With the exception of Tuesday, the animal protein market had limited trade this week with several participants attending the NARA conference in Florida. Tuesday was highly active, accounting for most of the price moves for the week. Values were unsettled due to the soybean meal CME fluctuations, adjustments in slaughter levels, and the proximity of month-end.

The largest jump of the week was on porcine bloodmeal, though ruminant bloodmeal was slightly higher. A week-on-week average gain of 10.1 percent, or $100.00/st, was witnessed on porcine on accounts of strong interest levels and diminished inventory. A high of $1200/st was reported out of the IA/MO/NE and $1250/st in Indiana. Ruminant bloodmeal moved up 2.4 percent with moderate adjustments to the ranges.
