Thanksgiving Organic Turkey Slaughter Increases in 2023

Food prices and broader economic conditions play a significant role in organic animal protein demand, as we routinely note in daily bulletin commentary.  Consumers are making food choices now for their Thanksgiving meal next week, some of whom abandon their budgets for a holiday meal, though many are not afforded the luxury.

Along with declining inflation and falling food prices, a glut has caused conventional wholesale turkey prices to decline 29 percent year over year.  Retail prices for conventional turkey have declined 13 percent year over year, making it an attractive option for cost-conscious consumers.
