Organic Soybean Meal Prices Steady

Organic soybean meal prices remain steady on the East Coast, with merchandisers reporting between $800 and $830 per short ton. There continue to be new container shipments making their way into the United States.

Still, imports appear to have fallen short year over year, and the U.S. will likely need to rely on African soybean meal to create the organic feed.  According to the U.S. Customs Department, approximately 50 percent of the organic soybean meal imported into the U.S. over the last 12 months has come from African countries. The largest contributor has been Ethiopia, but that is a summary of component countries according to the Foreign Agricultural Service website.
