BFT Renderer Falls, Pockets of Heavy Supply Persist in Fats Market

Three cars of renderer grade bleachable fancy tallow (BFT) traded down to 45 cts/lb Chicago this morning on what was an otherwise quiet day in the Chicago market. Gulf action was seen in a range of 44 – 45.75 cts/lb for BFT. There continues to be a mix of long and short positions in pockets around the US. Sources have reported some regional tightness for tallow, but there have also been sub-40 cts/lb FOB trades indicated outside of the reported geographical regions. Sources have commented that demand for January is better than what has been seen in December.
