Animal Fats – International 14.12.23

Trading out of the New Zealand and Australian markets was quiet this week with no changes reflected in the price guide. There were indications of lower prices out of New Zealand, but those could not be confirmed as of press time.
Production continues to be strong with the  the Australian national weekly cattle slaughter came in at 120,887 head this week, marking another 3 percent week-on-week drop, while still keeping a positive 12.87 percent change from 2022 levels.
The lower production is reflective of past seasonal patterns and sources expected abattoirs to slow operations until the second week of January after this weekend.
