Fats, Waste Oils and Grease Markets Tumble Ahead of Holiday Break

The fats, waste oils and grease market was quiet today to close out the week. Yellow grease (YG) did trade lower into the San Joaquin Valley on what was the lone ripple in the pond.
The US Treasury Department released guidelines on the Sustainable Aviation Fuel tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act. The federal agency will consider reduction calculations under the CORSIA model and also consider fuel that qualifies under the GREET model.
The administration also announced that the GREET methodology will be updated by March 31.
For the week, prices were lower across all markets. Choice white grease (CWG) FOB Mo. River had the biggest week-on-week drop at 13.0 percent. Lower demand from the feed sector in the Midwest tied to avian influenza cases combined with a pre-holiday surge in supply to weigh on the market. Prices for CWG FOB Mo River are down 20.7 percent over the last four weeks.
