During the week ending December 31, 2023, total low carbon fuel standard (LCFS) credit volumes declined but prices headed higher, data from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) on January 3 showed.

Total LCFS credit volume was 1,989,057 contracts, down four percent on the week. Credit prices advanced, however, during the period, rising $2.42, or 3.3 percent, on the week to an average of $75.11. The average price of a spot trade rose $0.57 to $70.00. For the most part, spot LCFS prices have trended below contracted trades earlier in the summer and into the fall.
