Unsettled Soybean Oil Market Continues into 2024

Operations at Bunge’s Decatur soybean crush plant in Indiana were halted last week due to a damaged natural gas pipeline that feeds the facility, the company confirmed in an emailed statement on January 4. Bunge expects the plant, which has the capacity to process as much as 135,000 bushels of soybeans per day, will return to operation in the coming days.

“We are proactively working with all the appropriate parties to repair the pipeline, while doing our best to continue to serve our customers,” the Bunge statement said.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident that caused the closure. The Indiana facility accounts for about 15 percent of the state’s soybean crush volumes.
