DCO Prices Sink on Late Trade

Trading was mostly quiet today, but there was carryover trading from late yesterday in the DCO market at lower prices on an FOB basis. Choice white grease was indicated broadly steady today from the Midwest to the Carolinas market.

The fat market was mostly lower this week on trading, which was spotty in both volume and region. Many in the market seemed to be on the sidelines this week, getting their affairs in order after coming back from a long, holiday weekend and for some, time off since before the Christmas holiday. However, there were reports of heavy spot volume in some markets and trading was done lower for nearly all products with the exception of tallow.

For the week, the Chicago packer BFT market was steady at an average of 43 cts/lb. Choice white grease FOB Mo. River averaged 1.85 percent below the prior week’s average, down 6/10ths of a cent per pound.
