Cattle Slaughter Forecast below 2023 through February

Limited trade was reported for the start of the week. The IPPE (International Production and Processing Expo) and AFIA (American Feed Industry Association) Pet Food Conference are expected to draw participants from the animal protein market which could diminish traded volume for the week.

For the week ending February 2, 2024, cattle slaughter is forecast at 625,000 head, 1.9 percent down from 2023 but 1.1 percent up from last week. Over the next six weeks, cattle slaughter is projected to average 615,000 head per week, 1.9 percent lower than 2023 for the respective time.
