Domestic organic feed grains are a relatively inelastic supply. There is a limit to the pace at which conventional ground can be transitioned to organic. Yields are limited by weather, management, and soil, and generally become steadier over time, so yields have limited potential to increase organic feed grain supply.
Conventional farmers transitioning to organic production need extensive retraining and mentoring, which in some states has been provided by state associations or cooperative extension. Conferences are also a big part of local and regional agriculture, and this is conference season in agriculture country.
