Animal Protein Values Mixed at the Start of February

A have-have-not tone was communicated on the meat and bonemeal market this week. Some participants indicated that the seasonal lull in slaughter, paired with the closures for snow, have diminished offering levels. On the other hand, there are still several indicating excess supply, keeping pressure on the overall market tone. Lower soybean meal values also weighed on the market. 

Bloodmeal continued to tight, though there were accounts of buyer hesitancy and pushback due to the elevated value relative to blend pricing and soybean meal.
