Food Corn Leads non-GMO Category; Mexico Policy to Drive Feed Segment

Food-grade corn is a small portion of both conventional and organic field corn markets, estimated at less than five percent, according to one major buyer.  For some producers, it is an appealing marketing option, but this is limited by geography.  Frito Lay in Sidney, Illinois contracts grain with 125 farmers within a 60-mile radius of the facility.

Non-GMO corn is a growing market, with non-GMO soybeans also showing considerable growth, according to merchandisers who described current sales volumes within the context of historical ones.
