A Push-Pull Market in Meat and Bonemeal Creates Sloppiness

Values on meat and bonemeal, for both porcine and ruminant, were indicated as sloppy today with a push-pull occurring due to a variety of factors. Wide ranges were communicated along with offers heard well below the published ranges. These offerings or trades could not be confirmed as of press time, leaving most values flat for the day.

Weighing on the market is the heightened soybean meal crush as well as the introduction of the South America Soybean crop in March. This has continued to pressure soybean meal, which dropped $7.60/st on the CME March futures today and settled at $351.20/st.
